The self luminous Tritium GTLS tubes used in all of the watches which are in this section mean they are unbeatable when it comes to consistent Night performance and are up to 100 times brighter than watches which use conventional painted dials. The hour and minute hands as well as the numbers each have a brightly glowing vial of Tritium gas. Whilst the vials contain radioactive gas even when thay are all taken together they contain less than the personal limit of 25 millicuries. (see U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations 10 CFR 30.15). Military watches of this type are the easiest in the world to read in low light or total darkness thanks to a self-activated light source. The light-emitting tubes require no battery power or any other form of charging, and never need servicing or maintenance. The life expectancy of the light sources is at least 10 years. If consistent night performance is important to you and you need a watch where the brightness will not diminish over the course of the night then there is no doubt that a tritium powered watch is vastly superior to any watch which uses a traditional painted dial and this is the reason why we find these watches are so popular with both serving military as well as security staff and police.
